STUDENTS -- SIGNING UP

 

To sign up, visit www.why-texas.com/compete and follow the instructions under STUDENT SIGN-UP.  When asked, enter the one or two promotion codes provided by your teacher.  This is how you join your teacher’s class in the competition.

 

STUDENTS -- COMPETING

 

After signing up, you compete by going directly to www.whyville.net, logging in, and playing the games.  The clams you earn will show up in Why-Texas results the day after you earn them in Whyville.

Follow these directions!

1. Go directly to www.whyville.net and log in.
2. For the Biotech competition:  Select Bioplex from the "Bus" menu.  The "Bus" menu is the menu underneath the Bus on the Welcome Page.
3. For the PlaneWorks competition:  Select PlaneWorks from the "Bus" menu.  The "Bus" menu is the menu underneath the Bus on the Welcome Page.
4. Clams earned from any activity in the Bioplex and PlaneWorks count toward their respective challenges.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Do students need to visit Why-Texas.com every time they compete?

 

A:  No.  Why-Texas.com is where teachers and students learn about the competition, sign up, and check results.  From the Why-Texas home page, you can also practice the games, but clams earned do not count.  To compete after signing up, go directly to www.whyville.net and follow the instructions above!

 

Q: When do teachers see student’s names in their class lists?

 

A:  Students names will not appear in their class lists until the day after the student earns their first clam in the competition.
